2011 Fall New York Fashion Week: Marc by Marc Jacobs

For the girl who craves Marc in an easy-to-wear way, these are the Fall looks she's been waiting for.
Fall 2011 New York Fashion Week: Marc by Marc Jacobs 2011-02-15 19:50:55

For the girl who craves Marc in an easy-to-wear way, these are the Fall looks she's been waiting for. There are the overt retro overtones, toned down and turned up where they need to be: sunnies are majorly round and oversized to complete the looks that range from more demure tie-neck blouses paired with calf-length skirts to playful printed jumpsuits. To appeal to the modern sensibility, Marc crafts animal prints, literally — metallic big-cat prints on skirts and blazers and a ladylike leopard-print on a dress and skirt that we're already coveting, then finishes looks with shearling-lined and lace-up boots. It's a collection that revisits the '70s, delivering only the best elements in a wearable reinterpretation for the modern girl with an easy aesthetic.

  • Trends: Earth tones, calf-length skirts, tie-neck blouses and dresses, fur, '70s.
  • Colors: Forest green, rust, gold, earth tones.
  • Key Looks: Belted full-length fur coat topped with a floppy fedora; a rainbow-dotted sheer dress.
  • Accessories: Lace-up and shearling-lined booties, floppy hats; round, oversize sunnies.
  • Who Would Wear It: The easy-chic chick with a taste for retro-cool.

The Best Looks From Day Six of 2011 Fall New York Fashion Week

Fashion Week is coming into the home stretch, and as we get further on, it seems like the looks are becoming increasingly theatrical. Today, we saw everything from windblown sylphs at Rodarte to grungy goddesses at Diesel Black Gold. It was an interesting assemblage of looks, but no one missed their chance to make a statement.

Celeb Style: Zoe Saldana

You've got to love a girl who has the chutzpah to wear six-inch heels on a shopping trip — and Zoe Saldana did just that while on a trip to the Tommy Hilfiger store in LA.

You've got to love a girl who has the chutzpah to wear six-inch heels on a shopping trip — and Zoe Saldana did just that while on a trip to the Tommy Hilfiger store in LA. She wore charcoal gray skinnies, a slouchy navy tee, and a cozy knit moto jacket, then accessorized with a chic pair of Ray-Ban Clubmaster sunglasses ($145), sky-high suede ankle boots, and a gorgeous Chloé Aurore leather bag ($1,800). We love Zoe's street-chic style, and this look is perfect for day or night. Click the items above to shop now.

Celeb Style: Karolina Kurkova

When supermodel looks are matched with super style, the combination is killer.

When supermodel looks are matched with super style, the combination is killer. Just take a look at Karolina Kurkova showing off a sophisticated take on evening attire, mixing up classic pieces like a white button-down and high-waist trousers ($285) with a bit of fur and a pop of red via a fabulous pair of pumps ($90). Less predictable than the obvious mini and heels combo, it's a totally fresh way to dress up for a night out. Just click the items above to shop a similar style.
