Robin Thicke had a family day with his wife, Paula Patton, and their son, Julian, at Central Park in NYC yesterday. The group took a ride on a rowboat on the park's lake and later held hands as they strolled through the scenery with a group of friends. Later that day, Paula opened up about her husband's controversial performance with Miley Cyrus at the MTV Video Music Awards back in August. The newly single Miley Cyrus got a lot of flak for dancing suggestively with Robin, but Paula wasn't put off by their performance, saying, "I wasn't surprised at all. They rehearsed for three days beforehand, and I don't know how not to dance with someone having their booty in your . . . all my friends do it like that! I don't really know what the big deal is." She also joked that maybe people expected Miley to come out and play a piano like Alicia Keys: "[Miley's] song's about taking Molly! I don't understand. I didn't get the big deal." Paula also took the chance to defend her husband's black and white striped suit, which also received some criticism for making him look like Beetlejuice. "He looked fly," Paula said.
No doubt about it, Paula Patton always turns it out on the red carpet, but we also love seeing her dressed down once in a while. On a recent shopping trip in LA, the actress tucked a plaid blouse into a pair of high-waisted skinny J Brand jeans then added key accessories. She dressed her feet up with star-embellished Isabel Marant pumps, wore red sunglasses to shield her eyes, and carried a black Chanel bag for a major dose of luxe. Re-creating Paula's latest look is simple, and you likely already have a few of the pieces. For those you don't yet have, shop below.
Robin Thicke continued his family vacation in Miami on Thursday, where he spent time playing with his son on the beach. Robin escaped to Florida on the heels of his controversial VMA performance with Miley Cyrus, and we first saw the "Blurred Lines" singer hit the beach Wednesday with his wife, Paula Patton, and son, Julian Thicke, for some downtime. While most of the criticism for the VMA performance has been directed at Miley for her explicit moves, Robin was reportedly bummed out by how the show went. Miley, on the other hand, seems unfazed by the backlash. Her manager reported that she "couldn't be happier" with how the performance went, and she even posted a few risqué pictures after the show.
Regardless of the scandalous VMA performance, Robin's already on to his next new single, "Give It 2 U." The music video, which debuted earlier this week, features still more twerking, plenty of foam fingers, Robin's infamous "Beetlejuice" suit, and even a cameo by Paula and little Julian. Check out the shirtless pic of Robin plus a family shot after the jump!
Just ahead of his big performance at this evening's MTV VMAs, Robin Thicke hit the red carpet with his wife, Paula Patton. Robin is set to sing "Blurred Lines," which has been taking the Summer by storm, topping the charts, and even inspiring a slew of video parodies. But the fun doesn't stop there! According to Us Weekly, Robin Thicke is set to have a special guest during the performance: Miley Cyrus will perform with Robin, and will reportedly be twerking and wearing a "provocative outfit." Don't forget to watch our live viewing party, and, if you're feeling like even more shenanigans, play our VMA drinking game!
Robin Thicke and Paula Patton are both busy promoting their projects in NYC this week, but they made time to hang out with their son, Julian, yesterday. Paula held hands with Julian when the two left their hotel with a group of friends, and they later met up with Robin for a ride in a black SUV. It has been a very busy week for Paula and Robin, with Paula doing press for her newest film, 2 Guns, which hits theaters on Friday, and Robin hitting the TV circuit to perform his hit song "Blurred Lines." However, the couple's paths have crossed multiple times on their different press trails, as Robin joined Paula on Monday at the red carpet premiere of 2 Guns, and the two sent sweet messages to each other when they did appearances on the Today show one day apart.
Paula Patton had husband Robin Thicke by her side last night for the NYC premiere of 2 Guns, where she was joined by costars Denzel Washington, Mark Wahlberg, and James Marsden. Mark and Denzel also made it a date night, both showing up with their respective wives. Mark was in LA last month for the Guys Choice Awards, and will be celebrating his anniversary with Rhea Durham on Thursday.
Paula and Robin managed to squeeze in their night out ahead of his big performance on the Today Show, which happened this morning. Robin has been busy promoting his new album, Blurred Lines, which drops today and features the smash Summer hit of the same name; the music video for "Blurred Lines" has been the target of constant controversy, not to mention a growing number of hilarious spoofs. Check out all the pictures from the NYC premiere of the action film, which hits theaters Aug. 2.
At least one night every year, the worlds of sport and style collide. Yep, we're talking the Oscars of athletics: the ESPY Awards. Last night's crowd brought out a whole host of big names from every sort of field imaginable, including a crop from Team Hollywood. Mere months after having her baby, Malin Akerman stepped out in a royal-blue jacquard mini by J. Mendel with a Hunting Season clutch and Selena Gomez showed off some gams even a professional sports star would be jealous of in a Dolce & Gabbana beaded lace number and Casadei pumps. Paula Patton chose sparkle, too, wearing a short-sleeved, silver Theia minidress and a Gilan diamond ring.
Olivia Wilde showed off her svelte figure in an A.L.C. crop top and pencil skirt, accessorized by a Rona Pfeiffer bracelet and Jerome C. Rousseau heels. Gabrielle Union picked a short, black number with a plunging neckline and jewelry from EF Collection and Graziela Gems, while Lake Bell brought the old-school glamour in a dark green Dolce & Gabbana strapless lace dress and hard clutch.
We know it's hard to whittle down one winner, but let us know — who would be your style M.V.P.?
The BET Awards went down last night, which meant some of music's brightest names rocked party frocks, glamorous gowns, and romantic dresses we're already daydreaming about. Gabrielle Union wore a red satin dress that hugged her body like a glove, Paula Patton picked a pleated angelic white gown that flashed a bit of leg thanks to sheer paneling, and Ciara went ultrasexy in a black leather pencil skirt and matching bralette (clearly, shirts weren't required!). Her bling came courtesy of Lorraine Schwartz.
Also there? One Miss Mariah Carey, looking every bit the glamorous diva in a white mini covered with a beaded overlay that fishtailed out behind her. Jordin Sparks was comparatively casual in a printed dress and white pumps, and Naya Rivera wore a super sparkly, long-sleeved mini from Emilio Pucci and Jacqueline Nerguizian black diamond earrings.
As is the case with most red carpets, there was something for everybody. Whose look was your personal favorite?
Alexander Skarsgard was joined by his stylish costars at a screening for Disconnect in NYC last night. He wore a Calvin Klein suit as he posed for photos with a Gucci-clad Paula Patton and the beautiful Andrea Riseborough in a Proenza Schouler frock. Elizabeth Olsen and Winona Ryder also dropped by the screening, the latter of which cuddled up with director Henry Alex Rubin on the red carpet. The film, which opens on Friday, April 12, follows a group of unrelated characters who are all connected through their dependency on technology. Disconnect's trailer, which was released in March, earned a bit of buzz for Jason Bateman's turn in a dramatic role.
Alexander will have a full schedule as he heads into Summer. He has the premiere of What Maisie Knew, his new film costarring Julianne Moore, to look forward to in the Spring, as well as the return of True Blood on June 16. If you can't wait until Summer for more Alexander, check out the True Blood season six trailer that was released last week.
Those used to seeing Jason Bateman in comedy roles might be surprised by the trailer for upcoming dramatic thriller Disconnect. Bateman, Alexander Skarsgard, Paula Patton, and Max Thieriot play seemingly unrelated citizens who share one commonality: a dependency on technology. Though the Internet is meant to bring people closer, these people find their lives unraveling as a result of technology addiction. Eventually, their lives collide. Think Traffic, but with Facebook instead of heroin.
This trailer is a lot more intense than I anticipated, and I'm sufficiently intrigued. I'm afraid for everyone in this movie, even the kid who's cyberbullying other kids. I'll be curious to see how it all comes together in the end, but I'm thinking it can't be a happy finish. The movie will be released on April 12, and you can watch the trailer after the jump.
