Preen's Justin Thornton and Thea Bregazzi have developed a collection of workwear with London tailor Gieves & Hawkes. "We wanted it to be masculine with a feminine twist, we thought it was about time we gave our Preen girl something to wear to work," said the designers.

Caroline Brown has been named president of Carolina Herrera, a position left vacant since Mario Grauso left the company to work for Vera Wang eight months ago.

And speaking of Mario Grauso, the Vera Wang president has taken on the role of columnist for Elle, as the magazine's "correspondent of chic."

Jade Jagger has signed on to update the bottle of 85-year-old Guerlain fragrance Shalimar.

Haider Ackermann is venturing into menswear and will unveil his first men's collection June 16 in Florence during the Pitti W trade show.

Kate's style is always sultry chic.

Kate's style is always sultry chic. Last night at Chopard's 150th anniversary party in NYC, the actress showed her support (and love) of jewels by wearing Chopard’s chalcedony, sapphire, diamond, and iolite chandelier earrings and a multicolor pearl and diamond ring. She also threw a multicolor pearl necklace over a drapey smokey lavender silk dress. Light gray super platform pumps heighten her. Dazzling.

Preen Fall 2010: All About the Bustier Bandeau

>> Just after the blaringly strong lights went up at Preen, signalling the start of the show, a yell came from the photographer's pit — "Move out of the way!"

>> Just after the blaringly strong lights went up at Preen, signalling the start of the show, a yell came from the photographer's pit — "Move out of the way!" — as someone scurried back to their seat.  Luckily for said photographer, Justin Thornton and Thea Bregazzi like to start their show out with a long stretch of music, building anticipation.

There would be no Preen without a multitude of cutout dresses — this time cut deep enough to reveal the side of a breast or a stretch of nude underwear — but the collection as a whole seemed to be built around the underwired bandeau bra. Turtlenecks (which have made appearances in a lot of shows so far) were cropped short to reveal the bandeau, floral dresses hung lose so that the bandeau could peek through, and some dresses had the bandeau built in over the top of draped fabric.  There was also a more tailored element — likely thanks to a collaboration with Savile Row tailor Gieves and Hawkes. And Nicholas Kirkwood contributed the shoes.

But clothes aside, Preen is also watched for its cast — at a dinner post-show, the designers admitted they like showing in New York because they have access to top caliber models not available in London. Hanne Gaby Odiele seemed to be having fun on their runway: after her first turn, she squinted from the bright lights and cracked a small smile, and in the finale, she was smiling and clearly trying to hold back a laugh.

Who Wore It Better? Metallic Cutout Preen

It's battle time, and Gwyneth Paltrow and Fergie are the sexy soldiers.

It's battle time, and Gwyneth Paltrow and Fergie are the sexy soldiers. Game on. Gwyneth first wore Preen's metallic cutout dress from the Fall runway during Summer. She accessorized with black booties and a Fab tan. Now Fergie chose the same dress for a press conference in Mexico, but opted for T-strap pumps and a simple bracelet. Both ladies look fantastically futuristic, but who wore it better?

Love It or Hate It

Preen's Fabric Anemones: Love It or Hate It?

All day I dream of Preen — you know what I mean?

All day I dream of Preen — you know what I mean? But today, after leaving the Preen Spring show, I couldn't shake the fabric anemones the designers used. Overly used. Overall, the collection was awesome — it was more airy than their body-con collections past. Less tight, more light. The colors were spot on: gray and taupe offset by crisp white, chartreuse, and pink sherbet. Fabrics were knotted and twisted in the utmost Preen way; lace patchwork was a new spin, a black iridescent fabric was sci-fi sassy. But in an attempt to be more textural, the designers doused skirts, dresses, and shoulders in these scrunchy fabric anemones. Sometimes it was cool, sometimes it was unflattering. Admire the fresh Preen shoes for a sec, then pray tell: do you love or hate the fabric anemones?
