The surfer girl got a girlie-girl makeover at Rebecca Taylor, albeit with a dose of denim and mirrored Westward Leaning shades, the cool-girl counterpoints to Taylor's sparkly embellishments that appeared on everything from the designer's Spring dresses to breezy jumpsuits, and right down to the glittering cage heels that finished every look. The designer was dreaming of Hawaii while crafting her lineup, a fantasy that manifested in peachy pinks, vibrant orange hues, bleached denim, and breezy, printed shirtdresses. As for silhouettes, we get jumpsuits in loose, laid-back iterations, tees and flowy little dresses dotted in sequins, and moto vests thrown nonchalantly over skirts and blouses — per usual, Taylor's take on the trends is tailored to the more feminine crowd, and always entirely wearable.

  • Trends: Vests, jumpsuits, all white, crop tops, colored leather, cutouts, peplum, sparkling embellishments, and florals.
  • Colors: Soft blues, lavender, white, peach, and orange.
  • Key Piece: The white-on-white jumpsuit was a standout.
  • Accessories: Strappy embellished cage heels, silver hoop earrings, and mirrored Westward Leaning sunglasses.
  • Who Should Wear It: The girlie girl with a little downtown edge; we'd love to see Blake Lively swap some of her sexier wares for one of these breezy, printed shirtdresses.

Fans of Rebecca Taylor's gorgeous line of feminine, fashion-forward pieces for women will adore the designer's new capsule collection for little girls.

Fans of Rebecca Taylor's gorgeous line of feminine, fashion-forward pieces for women will adore the designer's new capsule collection for little girls. Ranging in price from $95 to $125, the styles exemplify Rebecca's signature look and are absolutely adorable in their scaled-down sizes. Check out what Rebecca shared with us about her inspiration to design for children, and then click through and tell us: which piece is your favorite?

LilSugar: What made you decide to do a kids' collection?
Rebecca Taylor: It was pretty organic. . . . I have three children, so I shop for them. I also thought that our prints would translate easily into pieces for little girls.

LS: What's the vision or inspiration for the look of the collection?
RT: Easy, soft silhouettes with the laid-back vibe of Summer days.

LS: Any styling tips for moms of little girls?
RT: Just keep it simple. . . . A cute pattern on a dress or a top is enough. Little girls are adorable already and don't need too many pieces or accessories!

LS: As a mom, what do you look for in kids' clothes from other designers, and what were some of your goals in designing your own collection?
RT: I like my children to be dressed like children. . . . I don't pick out anything that's too edgy or fashion-forward. So that was definitely a goal of mine in designing. I think our dresses have great silhouettes that don't look too adult.

LS: You know you're a mother when ______.
RT: Making weekday plans past 9 p.m. seems way too late!

LS: Why didn't anybody tell me ______ about motherhood?
RT: How much planning and scheduling is involved in a typical day when you're a working mom.

LS: What's the best trick your mama taught you?
RT: Don't take any nonsense!

LS: Helicopter mom or free-range kids?
RT: Somewhere in the middle.

Just days before celebrating her wedding anniversary to Prince William, Kate Middleton showed off her fashion savvy in Spring's hottest trend, wearing not one, but two brilliant peplum looks.
Kate Middleton Wearing Matthew Williamson and Rebecca Taylor

Just days before celebrating her wedding anniversary to Prince William, Kate Middleton showed off her fashion savvy in Spring's hottest trend, wearing not one, but two brilliant peplum looks. Yesterday, Kate wore a dove gray peplum dress adorned with gorgeous beading embellishments by Matthew Williamson, paired with dark green suede pumps and a matching clutch at the UK premiere of African Cats. Kate then switched out of her fancy dress for a prim two-piece tweed suit by Rebecca Taylor for a royal reception at the Goldsmiths Hall in London honoring the Scott-Amundsen Centenary Race to the South Pole. We love how anyone can wear this look just as easily to the office. Meanwhile, blue suede pumps and an Anya Hindmarch snake skin clutch finish off her ensemble. Just click through to see more close-up shots from both of her peplum-fied looks and tell us which is your favorite in the comments section below.

Rebecca Taylor Fall 2012

Rebecca Taylor Fall 2012

Rebecca's girl is both an homage to '90s grunge and a fresh-faced street-styler. The Fall collection marries the designer's signature sweet side with darker territory, at least where texture and color are concerned. Rebecca's palette is decidedly moody in deep brown, burgundy, and black on leather, herringbone, wool, and velvet layers. Then she counters with cool-girl silhouettes; layers are in perfect proportion — for every slick leather layer, there's also a sheer-chiffon sleeve, slinky sequins, or abstract print. There's a lightness to counter the severity of her colors; she still homes in on that girlie factor we love in a pretty peplum top, a sexier snake-print halter dress, or ultra-femme sheer pleats. Like front-rower Olivia Palermo, this girl is something of a mix-master who's got as much femininity as she does cool-girl edge.

  • Trends: Rich texture in leather, velvet, and jacquard; sequins, peplum, heavy layers, and exotic print.
  • Colors: Brown, gray, and black with just a pop of purple and blue.
  • Key Piece: We love the open sheer-chiffon pleats on the gorgeous full-length print dress; also the cool factor of a leopard coat done in ombre.
  • Accessories: Metallic ankle-strap heels, fur-adorned ankle boots, chain-strap crossbody bags, and oversize leather satchels.
  • Who Would Wear It: Street-chic celebs like Nicky Hilton would rock the moto-style jackets and edgy layers.
