Jean Paul Gaultier Designs Lingerie Collection For La Perla, Swimwear Is Next

Named La Perla Designer Collection, Jean Paul Gaultier's first official lingerie line will make its debut during the designer's upcoming haute couture show.

Named La Perla Designer Collection, Jean Paul Gaultier's first official lingerie line will make its debut during the designer's upcoming haute couture show. On July 7 in Paris, Gaultier will showcase two limited-edition pieces for La Perla—an elaborately constructed satin bra and a garter belt. Having put Madonna in a cone bra in the '90s, it was clear the designer still had lingerie on his mind when he reintroduced the famous silhouette on his fall runway as outerwear pieces.

“I met Jean Paul Gaultier a few months ago, and we immediately hit it off because we shared a common vision of beauty, style, taste and quality. So we agreed to try this adventure together and unite our savoir faire,” said Alain Prost, chief executive officer of La Perla.

Look out for Gaultier's 27-style capsule collection of mostly handmade corsets, high-waisted briefs, bodysuits, and bras done in pink and black in La Perla and Jean Paul Gaultier stores this November. The collaboration is reportedly a two-year affair and will include swimwear next March.

Who Was Most Fab at amfAR New York Inspiration Gala?

I don't know what it is about amfAR, but it sure knows how to throw a stylish soiree.

I don't know what it is about amfAR, but it sure knows how to throw a stylish soiree. Celebrities are always outfitted to the max when one of these arise. Last night, celebrities and singers congregated in NYC for the amfAR New York Inspiration Gala. I was going to call it an LBD fest, but Kelly Rowland broke the mold with a white and silver Herve Leger dress. She's not the only one who looked Fab: Estelle showed off her stems in a retro cute short outfit, Kylie Minogue risked it in a sliced LBD with leather sleeve, and Zoe Saldana posed in a sheer print turtleneck dress. Who was most fabulous?

It's been almost ten years since Jean Paul Gaultier designed a pair of Roman chariot-style armchairs for VIA, and today the designer announced he's re-entering the world of home decor with French furniture brand Roche Bobois.

The Jean Paul Gaultier-designed furniture collection will be unveiled in the coming months and to promote the release, Roche Bobois has sponsored Gaultier to outfit the Elle Decoration suite in Paris. The Trocadéro district apartment, which has in the past been decorated by Maison Martin Margiela and Christian Lacroix, features a hallway completely covered in nautical strips (matching Gaultier's  favorite Breton T-shirt), a jungle-themed living room that is covered in overgrown foliage, and a "flesh room" with walls painted in skin-tones and trompe l’oeil fishnet carpeting on the floors. Carla Bruni-Sarkozy remains the first lady of fashion, as she confirms rumors she will guest edit the French weekly, Madame Figaro magazine. Hitting newsstands this Saturday, the issue features an article with Bruni-Sarkosy in which she responds to gossip surronding her marriage with French president Nicolas Sarkozy and blames the worst rumors on bloggers:

“[Rumors] have always existed. But I despise those that stem from a blog and that are written by people calling themselves Mickey or Superman,” she says in the issue. “I also despise so-called journalists who use blogs as a credible source of information.”

The weekly magazine will also feature one-off sketches from Karl Lagerfeld and Jean Paul Gaultier, a story on Bruni-Sarkozy's charity projects, a profile on Bono, and photographs of Marine Delterme by Ellen von Unwerth.
