Is Rosie Huntington-Whiteley Headed For a Career Shift?

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley may have made a name for herself on the runway, but if there's one thing the past two years have demonstrated, it's that the 26-year-old model, who has been working in the industry for a decade already, may be ready to shift from the catwalk to the silver screen.

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley may have made a name for herself on the runway, but if there's one thing the past two years have demonstrated, it's that the 26-year-old model, who has been working in the industry for a decade already, may be ready to shift from the catwalk to the silver screen. After appearing in Transformers: Dark of the Moon in 2011, the Victoria's Secret Angel is set to appear in Mad Max: Fury Road in 2014 — and that's not all the model-turned-actress and entrepreneur has in store for herself. As she divulged in the most recent issue of NET-A-PORTER's The Edit. See some of her best quotes from the interview below.

On her favorite color: "Red is my power color. I love red. I'm drawn to it. I feel great when I'm wearing it. It's a sexy, confident color. But it's got to be a deep, powerful shade."

On how being in Transformers: Dark of the Moon influenced her fashion: "The Transformers audience is quite…specific. They want to see you looking 'sexy.' It informed my clothing choices on the press tour. I tried to find a way of being sexy but subtle."

On her new tattoo: "It's a hummingbird by Scott Campbell, a tattoo artist who does a lot for Marc Jacobs...hummingbirds fly about my house in LA. There's a hideous bush that my gardener wants to cut down, but I won't let him because all the hummingbirds gravitate towards it. In the mornings, I can sit with a coffee and watch them."

On having her own line of lingerie: "The process, from understanding what people want, to seeing my products in stores is incredibly moving."

On her acting aspirations: "I'd love to do a period drama, or make a quintessentially British comedy."

How Fashion's Finest Spent Saturday Night

Is there a better time to throw a party than the weekend before the Met Gala?

Is there a better time to throw a party than the weekend before the Met Gala? With models, designers, stylists, celebrities, and the like landing in New York City just before fashion's biggest party of the year, Moda Operandi, Net-a-Porter, and Dolce & Gabbana scheduled big celebrations.

Net-a-Porter founder Natalie Massenet threw a party at the not-yet-opened restaurant Omar's in Greenwich Village that drew Karolína Kurková, Balmain designer Olivier Rousteing, Prabal Gurung, and Miranda Kerr, among others. Uptown, Giovanna Battaglia was busy hosting the opening of Dolce & Gabbana's Fifth Avenue boutique, which was attended by Constance Jablonski and Harley Viera Newton and featured a performance by singers Ellie Dehn and Matthew Polenzani.

Moda Operandi's party, which celebrated the launch of the retailer's punk-themed collection inspired by this year's Costume Institute exhibit, took the form of a late-night supper that saw a number of people who attended the evening's earlier parties, Gurung and Rousteing included. Today marks the debut of Proenza Schouler's exclusive capsule collection with Net-a-Porter.com — the first time designers Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez have designed a limited-edition line under their brand specifically for one retailer. (Their much-beloved collaboration with Target's Go International program was sold both at Target and Opening Ceremony.)

The nine-piece collection the two created for Net-a-Porter.com — which includes miniskirts, a t-shirt, a sweater, and shorts, among other items — is based on some of the bestselling pieces from past Pre-Spring collections, but the styling takes cues from surfing. The offering includes a pair of leather board shorts, a tweed pullover with a drawstring hood, and a cotton jacket printed with an aqua-and-black print that, from far away, looks like a very geometric exercise in tie-dyeing.

Get a look at all the pieces here in the gallery.

Net-a-Porter Adds Beauty For Greater One-Stop Shopping

Long heralded as one of the biggest online hubs for luxury fashion, Net-a-porter is expanding its reach to include beauty.

Long heralded as one of the biggest online hubs for luxury fashion, Net-a-porter is expanding its reach to include beauty. The site will launch its "The Quintessential Edit" on March 20, which is slated to include products ranging from 3Lab to Chantecaille to Le Métier de Beauté. This shift is fresh off the heels of the site's inclusion of menswear and discounted goods. "As we started to expand it was a disconnect to not be able to offer beauty," Alison Loehnis, the company's managing director, said to WWD. "By being at the front lines, we have an enormous amount of insight and exposure to talent and also product."

The Quintessential Edit will have a home on net-a-porter.com, and the company stresses that there are no plans to create a stand-alone business. Loehnis said that Net-a-porter is and always will be a fashion business above all else. But she understands the importance of beauty curation. "It's so interesting because we have this panel of just under 10,000 customers that are superusers who provide us with amazing insight," she said. "Beauty is the chart topper without fail." The Quintessential Edit will be making plenty of customers that much happier.
