Cynthia Rowley Is Giving a Lesson in Color Theory For Fall
It's a tricky thing to design clothing that's sporty, futuristic, and playful while still being wearable, but Cynthia Rowley struck a perfect balance for Fall 2014.
Set against a dark background with brilliant sunbursts, ensembles made up of separates like sleek skirts and colorblock sweatshirts were accessorized with colorful wristbands and dramatic thigh-high boots. A look based in deep red with a two-tone blue waistband embodied a perfectly tailored tracksuit, and a black-and-orange A-line dress was layered over a purple turtleneck for a colorful impact that was only enhanced by a bold fur headpiece.
But these moments of strong color only intensified as the collection progressed to include a black shift dress adorned with colorful leaf-like appliqués and a brilliantly yellow skirt, which was styled with a black-and-red turtleneck. All in all, it showed that even when you're entirely covered up, it's still possible to make a bold sartorial statement.
