Ever since Rihanna wore that sheer black top over a striped bikini top, I've been craving the same peek-a-boo effect. It's demure but shows your naughty side, too. So I set out on a serious hunt for a just-sheer-enough tee and found this Kain Label Sheer Crop Top ($84).

Don't shoot the messenger. This trend takes me back to the mid-90s when Supers wore bra tops under sheer Donna Karan bodysuits. It looked great then, but does it now?

Hold up: Is this an Olsen I'm looking at or Hilary Duff? I did a double take when I saw the singer at TRL's goodbye party. I can totally see Ashley rocking this unique look.

Gwyneth Paltrow confidently walked the Parisian red carpet at the premiere of her movie Two Lovers. Admit it: She took a risk wearing this Antonio Berardi sheer lace dress from his Spring '09 collection. Clearly we can see her panties and bra, but since that's the point of the frock, she doesn't seem to mind.

Hot mama Heidi Klum continually knows how to make it work. As of late, she's been into the peek-a-boo effect with a sheer blouse and sexy bra. At LA Fashion Week, she proved that sheer doesn't have to equal slutty.

If I could buy everything at Revolve Clothing, I probably would. Too bad the steep prices stop me. The good news is that its sale section has plenty of items for cheaper than usual.

Selma always seems to have a trick up her sleeve when it comes to fashion — she's one of the few people I've seen attempt the sheer trend and pull it off. Her Marc Jacobs grey cashmere shell and skirt look not only luxurious but comfortable. Insert Coco Chanel quote here: "Luxury must be comfortable, otherwise it is not luxury."

See-through clothes make most gals say, oh, sheer. But we can't avoid the trend altogether because it was everywhere on the Spring runways, including BCBG (left) and Marc Jacobs.
What we can do is find a sheer style that works for our lifestyles and body types.

Many of us are reluctant to try out the Spring sheer trend. When I saw Amy Smart at the Reebok Takes You Around the World in One Night event last night in New York I remembered that polka dots on a sheer blouse convey the perfect sexy secretary look. Worn with jeans, it's laid-back and sophisticated; worn with a pencil skirt, it's a great date look.
