>> Mathilde Frachon Takes a Spill at Marc by Marc Jacobs —Agyness Deyn kicked off this season's edition of falling models at Fashion for Relief on Friday, where she fell twice, but it was Mathilde Frachon who took a tumble today at the Marc Jacobs show, despite the fact that she was in kitten heeled boots. Blame it on the floor — Robert Duffy Tweeted after the fact: "I was very nervious. 5 girls slipped and thankfully didn't get hurt." [The Cut, @Fashionista_com, TFS, @robertcduffy]
Mix Your Own Marc Jacobs Manicures
At the Marc Jacobs show, models sported not one, not two, but five different manicure styles. Created by CND's Roxanne Valinoti (with Elisa Ferri), the five hand-mixed, custom-blended colors ranged from brownish gray to lavender-tinged beige. As is the case with all things Marc, the color palette is bound to set trends. If you just can't wait until fall to wear the look, check out the exact "recipe" you'll need to mix up each of the runway polish colors for yourself. All polishes are from CND.
Sarah Jessica Parker Leads the Fashion Week Brigade
The Fashion Week fun continues in NYC, with Sarah Jessica Parker heading out last night to take in the Halston show. It's her first presentation since being named Chief Creative Officer of the brand last month, and she had nothing but praise for their designer Marios Schwab. "We are really proud of him," she said. "It's not as if I had anything to do with it but I know that the birthing process is really hard." Marc Jacobs, meanwhile, put on a less star-studded than usual event, though his fiance Lorenzo Martone took a break from planning their wedding later this year to celebrate at the staff-only after-party with Rachel Zoe. It was a starlet convention at Jill Stuart, with Jessica Szohr, Michelle Trachtenberg, and Mena Suvari in the front row. AnnaLynne McCord made a cameo there, after she was mum about being in the same city as rumored boyfriend Kellan Lutz. Both Fab and Bella are in the Big Apple covering the scene, so stay tuned for updates on all the action!

Fall 2010 New York Fashion Week: Marc Jacobs
Old mascara never dies, it just goes on to the big runway in the sky. At least it did at Marc Jacobs' show, where François Nars layered coat after coat of old mascara for a purposely clumpy look. The slightly spidery lashes and Black Moon eyeliner pencil popped against pale blue and heathered lavender shadows. Tying the look together: a pale coral lip thanks to Barbarella lipstick. "These girls are sexy and cool," Nars said. "Their makeup looks dirty and worn out as if it has been on all night but still translates beautifully on the runway."
Models' hair was trimmed into layers that rested just below the collarbone. To create texture, Palau and his team sprayed Redken Fabricate. The end result was hair and makeup that feels easy, modern — in other words, very Marc.
Marc Jacobs on Fall 2010: "It's Not About Fashion, It's About Style"
>> At 7:56 pm EST this evening, a booming male voice came over the loudspeakers at the Armory in New York, asking everyone to take their seats, the Marc Jacobs show was about to start. Meanwhile, the rest of the audience, via live.marcjacobs.com, had already taken their seats at home and were watching. The lights went down in the space, covered floor, wall, and ceiling with corrogated cardboard. Then, a spotlight appeared on Marc as he and Robert Duffy walked across the room to tear down a floor to ceiling segment of brown paper, revealing all the models, standing in a giant wooden crate, behind.
Tatiana Cotliar opened the pared-back, neutral-dominated collection to the "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" soundtrack, which featured a mix of three different renditions of the song. The 56-look collection was modeled by a cast who exited the box one at a time and included Marc by Marc Jacobs stylists Camille Bidault-Waddington and Suzanne Deeken, plus two girls who were pulled off the street; Jamie Bochert closed.
There was no finale procession, just Marc taking a bow in a Bottega Veneta suit; it really seems like Marc is ready for his show to be about the clothes again, something Robert Duffy suggested recently: no celebrities front row (just Crystal Renn — Andre Leon Talley was even left standing after coming late), a one song soundtrack, a brown paper set, very few recognizable models. Even the after-party is staff-only this year. "It's not about fashion, it's about style. That's why we used 'real' girls," he said post-show.
And people seem to be responding. "Beautiful show, wistful. Fab coats with glossy, shaggy fur. A-line skirts," Cathy Horyn remarked. Paper's Kim Hastreiter wrote: "Marc Jacobs show was the most beautiful of his career IMO."
>> More Intel on Marc Jacobs Fall 2010, As (Basically) Confirmed By Robert Duffy —As rumored, Marc Jacobs definitely held street casting yesterday at Milk Studios for his Fall 2010 show. But there's more — sounds like he's going to have to find a new fit model next season — Robert Duffy seems to think she leaked information about the collection. Earlier today, The Cut reported from a "well-placed source" that the collection is almost entirely cream and beige, the shoes are Mary Jane-style flats (or minimal heel) worn with socks, the hair is messy, the music is "Somewhere Over the Rainbow," and the look is '40s style silk camisoles, wide-leg pantsuits, and trapeze skirts. As for the street casting, The Cut's source says Marc is looking for an army of Jamie Bochert lookalikes, and casting agents had to dig deeper than what agencies had to offer to fulfill the bill. Just in the the last hour, Robert Duffy Tweeted, "Well all is not a secret any more. New York mag. Got all the info. Go on Newyorkmag.com," followed by: "Read the new York mag article. Our fit model spilled it all!" [The Cut, @robertcduffy, @robertcduffy]
>> Marc Jacobs Rumored to Be Street Casting for Fall 2010 Show —The Imagist reports on "very good authority" that there will be "some element of New York street casting" to the Fall 2010 Marc Jacobs show: "Some very cool girls on the scene (think Purple denizens) are being considered . . . Will it be all non-models? A mix of mannequins and real people? Or will mercurial Marc shift his mind at the last minute?" [TI]
>> Marc Jacobs, Lorenzo Martone Still Marrying Later This Year; Marc Still Wants to Be Married at Robert Duffy's House —In a new interview with Butt, Lorenzo Martone says of all the "confirmations" of his marriage to Marc Jacobs so far: "The official wedding documents won't be signed till later this year, so legally we're not married yet. But it was funny to read about it so many times." And Robert Duffy confirms today: "I have told you everything Marc has told me about his union. He is in love. He wants to get married some day. He is not married. That's it!" Duffy adds: "I had so many people ask me if Marc was married that I asked him. He said ' You know I want to get married at your house!' He would tell me." >> Robert Duffy Now Finds Celebrities at Fashion Shows "Boring"—Marc Jacob's business partner Robert Duffy has been an open book lately, and this time, he's explaining the new no-celebrity policy at Jacobs's shows: "I’m not into the celebrity thing or anything, like we used to do. You know, it’s like, that’s boring. People used to want to come to our shows because of that, and we’ve sort of cut that out the last two seasons just because it was boring . . . It generated so much press and at a certain point it was like, did anybody actually watch the show? All I ever saw in the press was who was there. So we sort of stopped that and just got back to showing a fashion show, and if people want to come, great." [Style File]
