Burberry Prorsum Spring 2012

Burberry Prorsum: Spring 2012

If you ever wondered what London's take on the tribal trend would look like, look no further. "Joyous, upbeat, nostalgic" were the words Christopher Bailey used to describe his Spring collection for Burberry Prorsum, and that's exactly what it looked like as models strutted down the runway in an array of brightly colored trench coats, African-inspired printed sheath dresses, and, most notably, a cool array of parka jackets embellished with leather sleeves, whipstitch, and crochet detailing. Pretty pleated knee-length skirts and silk dresses injected a throwback touch while raffia pom hats, colorful woven wedges, and bold statement necklaces furthered Bailey's exotic theme. Check out more details from the collection below.

  • Trends: Colored trench coats, tribal-print dresses, glamorous parka jackets.
  • Colors: Orange, purple, peacock blue, green, mustard yellow.
  • Key Look: The elevated parkas will be a Spring must have.
  • Accessories: Pom raffia hats, colorful woven wedges and peep-toe pumps, whipstitch bags, bold statement necklaces.
  • Who Would Wear It: Girls who crave color and statement jackets.

Met Gala: Rosie Huntington-Whiteley

Leave it to Rosie Huntington-Whiteley to saunter down the Met Gala red carpet in a slinky, hot-pink Burberry Prorsum gown with a thigh-high slit — not to mention the open shoulders, deep v-neck, and waist-tie belt.

Leave it to Rosie Huntington-Whiteley to saunter down the Met Gala red carpet in a slinky, hot-pink Burberry Prorsum gown with a thigh-high slit — not to mention the open shoulders, deep v-neck, and waist-tie belt. The model-actress accessorized with a pair of nude strappy heels, a matching clutch, and gold earrings. Her hair was swooped to the side — very '40s-inspired — and she wore thick cat-eye liner and bronzy eye shadow. Do you love or loathe Rosie's look?Vote on all of our Met Gala polls here!

Which Celebrity Wore Her Blues Best?

Last night, blue was the dress color of choice.

Last night, blue was the dress color of choice. Emma Roberts chose a blue Burberry Prorsum dress and Kristen Bell wore silky Vanessa Bruno to the Scream 4 premiere, while Sophia Bush went with a beaded Chris Benz dress to complement her hot pink shoes at the Elle Women in Music event. All ladies look chic, but in your book, who is the chicest in blue?

For Burberry Prorsum’s Fall 2011 show, designer Christopher Bailey went with a swinging '60s vibe. Inspired by Jean Shrimpton, the collection included covetable coats in an array of bright colors and often featuring military details or luxe fur-trim. Vibrant plaid prints also made a cameo, as did this season’s answer to the iconic trench. To see the full collection, watch our full runway coverage now!

2011 Autumn London Fashion Week: Burberry Prorsum

Last season, a few editors dared to criticise Christopher Bailey for using a tried and tested method, but that could not be said of this season.

Last season, a few editors dared to criticise Christopher Bailey for using a tried and tested method, but that could not be said of this season. Outerwear took centre stage as usual with bright coloured wool coats opening the show, all teamed with animal print flat caps. The collection gradually introduced check with '60s-inspired peacoats teamed with skintight trousers with a kick flare. Bailey was obviously influenced by the wintry weather we've been experiencing as there were heavy fur coats. The finale even took place under light snowfall as the models covered up in cute, clear rain macs.

There seemed to be more focus on bags than ever with large bowling totes and small patent clutches being the main focus. There definitely wasn't the same "must have" appeal of previous seasons (the aviator, the biker, etc.), but that isn't necessarily a bad thing. Christopher Bailey can sleep soundly tonight with another triumph under his belt!

  • Trends: Heritage, '60s, fur, animal print.
  • Colours: Blue, orange, green, black, white, brown, purple.
  • Accessories: Large handbags with tassels, patent clutch, wedge heels.
  • Key look: Olive green wool coat.
  • Who would wear this: Anybody who likes classics with a twist.
