There are no signs of the Venice Film Festival's A-list glamour waning any time soon, and here's why. Last night's Spring Breakers premiere had us swooning three times over. Between Selena Gomez's ruffled nude Atelier Versace gown, Vanessa Hudgens's gold embellished Temperley London gown, and Ashley Benson's ultratextured sapphire-blue column dress, we've got enough evening glitz to inspire our next formal occasion. The starlet trio impressed earlier with a mix of cool cocktail sheaths — think black and gold Dolce & Gabbana and leaf-printed Blumarine — at the film's photocall. Elsewhere amongst the Venice Film Festival reveling, Freida Pinto took on an Alexander McQueen cutout gown that not only wowed in shine factor but also hugged her svelte frame to perfection, Blake Lively stunned in a sexy Gucci Premiere number, and ceremonies host Kasia Smutniak stepped out in yet another romantic Valentino creation. Don't miss even a moment of the style action — see the best looks from all angles now.
The cast of Spring Breakers got the Venice Film Festival all-star treatment tonight at their red-carpet premiere. Selena Gomez, in custom Versace Atelier and Lorraine Schwartz jewels, and Vanessa Hudgens both chose champagne tones, while Ashley Benson stepped out in a bold blue hue from Alberta Ferretti. Director Harmony Korine arrived with his wife, Rachel, who wore a beautiful gold gown, and posed for photos with James Franco and the entire cast prior to the screening. A few of the stars are packing up in the upcoming days and heading to Canada, where they're expected to share the flick with North American audiences on Friday at this year's TIFF.
Selena has a full roster on her hands while visiting Toronto. In addition to promoting Spring Breakers, she'll also be chatting with press about her forthcoming animated feature, Hotel Transylvania, due out Sept. 28. We'll be reporting live from Toronto, so be sure to follow us on Twitter and Instagram for the latest news and photos from the film festival!
Selena Gomez led the pack of Spring Breakers stars at a photocall this morning at the Venice Film Festival. She posed for photos alongside her leading ladies Ashley Benson, Vanessa Hudgens, and Rachel Korine. Rounding out the gang was James Franco. Their Harmony Korine-directed movie also screened for critics — check out an early Spring Breakers review. The plot of the picture centers around the four girls on a vacation during college, but due to a lack of funds, they get involved in crime and mixed up with a gangster played by James. Harmony Korine is known for making art pieces, and James, who seems like he's usually down to experiment, jumped at the chance to participate. The Hollywood Reporter wrote of the actor's work in Spring Breakers, "Even by the elastic measure of James Franco's unpredictable career, the actor gives one of his more bizarre performances."
Freida Pinto and Clive Owen were among the stars to step out for Jaeger-LeCoultre's party celebrating their Rendez-Vous collection at the Venice Film Festival last night. Freida wore a black-and-gold gown with cutouts around the midriff, and Clive looked dapper in a tux. Both stars are making the rounds at festivals this year. She was in Cannes back in May to promote her Desert Dancer. Clive also hit Cannes for the premiere of his Hemingway & Gellhorn with costar Nicole Kidman. Clive's most recent project, Shadow Dancer, had its premiere in London earlier this month.
Blake Lively donned a Gucci mini to a party thrown last night during the Venice Film Festival. Salma Hayek greeted Blake with a hug. Salma's husband, Francois-Henri Pinault, joined the ladies for pictures as well. Francois-Henri's company owns Gucci, and he's been at the film festival with Salma for a few days, prepping for the big unveiling of Blake's new ad for Gucci's Premiere fragrance. Blake teamed up with director Nicolas Winding Refn for the short piece. Nicolas made the rounds yesterday as well, along with Gucci's creative director Frida Giannini. Blake's boyfriend, Ryan Reynolds, accompanied her on the trek to Italy, but he managed not to have his picture taken at the event. Today, though, both Blake and Ryan were seen making a hasty exit from the city at the airport.
Zac Efron hit the red carpet tonight at the Venice Film Festival premiere of At Any Price. Zac posed solo, then joined up with his costar Maika Monroe before heading into the theater. He's among the first wave of celebrities to arrive in Italy with Ben Affleck, Rachel McAdams, and other expected in the upcoming days — see all the hot pics from Venice so far! From Italy Zac will next travel to Canada, where his Lee Daniels-directed drama, The Paperboy, is screening at this year's Toronto International Film Festival prior its Oct. 5 release.
His schedule is jam-packed through the end of the year, and he won't be slowing down anytime soon with news that he just landed a new gig. Zac will star in Are We Officially Dating?, a romantic comedy slated to start production this Fall in NYC.
Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds had help with their luggage after they arrived at the airport in Venice this morning. She headed to a water taxi ahead of Ryan, who made sure to shake hands and thank their assistants for the help. Neither Ryan nor Blake will premiere a full-length feature at the ongoing film festival — check out all the celebrities at Venice so far! Blake will, though, promote her collaboration with director Nicolas Winding Refn tomorrow night. Blake's Gucci commercial, which she shot with Nicolas earlier this year, will be screened. Ryan and Blake haven't hit a red carpet together since their relationship turned from professional Green Lantern costars to personal, but we'll be excited to see if he's by her side this weekend.
Zac Efron suited up for a photocall promoting his At Any Price at the Venice Film Festival this morning. Zac arrived in Italy just yesterday, fresh off a stay at his home in LA. Zac's showing off the drama after taking his other big film, The Paperboy, to Cannes in May. Zac will also bring The Paperboy to the Toronto International Film Festival and the New York Film Festival this Fall. Zac's among the many celebrities at the Venice Film Festival, and the next week will bring more sightings of stars like Ben Affleck, Rachel McAdams, and Joaquin Phoenix.
